There are many excellent places of all skill levels to mountain bike out here. I am cutting a mountain bike trail on my property riding up and accross all 3 mesa levels. The desert roads in Terlingua Ranch are a nice way to get fast miles and see the neighborhood. There is a large network of singletrack trails near the Lajitas Airport which is about a 75 minute drive from our place. A bit further down the road, Big Bend Ranch State Park is filled with trails that support multiday bike-packing rides through old mining camps filled with old equipment.
Big Bend Ranch State Park – 311,000 acres with more than 200 miles of multiuse trails. I’ve ridden the Contrabando trail several times and loved it each time. Old equipment, varied terrain, and the Crystal mountain loop.
